As a major tool of entertainment and transportation, with increased market share and high sales rate, children' s bike has become more and more popular am ong kids and their parents. Along with the developm ent of our soci ety, it has been no long a simple tool for practical use, but has tu rned into a p roduct tha t c an satisf y the children's needs at different levels such as knowledge acquiring and body exercising. Moreover, it can m eet such deeper needs of children as co mmunication, expression and recognition. However, in our daily life, due to lack of innovation, the children' s bike is usually the miniature of adults' bike. It is a fact that the buy ers are parents while th e users are children, so there is a paradox whose needs should be satisfied by the designers. Every child has his own requirem ent for a unique bike, which can only be met through his own participation into the design. To solve the above problems, this paper puts forward a new design model of user participation that children can design the bike with the designers according to his own preferences. The paper m akes the study into dif ferent ages: 3-5, 6-8, 9-12, and also suggests some ideas according to the requirement of parents and their children. W ith the theme of children-oriented, this paper intro duces different ways, pr ocesses, task models and thinking m odels in the design th rough children participation, as well as some different guidances in interface design according to the different age groups.Besides, the paper also class ifies the design into dif ferent models, finds those that can b e used by ch ildren, and builds the primary model base and individualized model base. Taking the example of the age group 3-5, the paper brings forward som e basic design patterns of dif ferent parts of children's bike according to their esthetic needs and the imitation of animals. The user's interface has also been designed for this age group.
