With the rapid development of hydraulic power transmission technology, especially construction machinery's hydraulic system, there are increasingly high demand for the pump as the power source of hydraulic system. Hydraulic pump's performance and reliability has great impact on the entire hydraulic system's performance and reliability. High speed, high pressure is an important development direction of hydraulic pump, and more difficulties for design work are created. In our country, research on piston pumps, especially the double?compound axial piston pump which is widely used construction machinery starts very late. So we are short of core technology, and the high performance pumps are mostly dependent on import. This also restricts the development of the domestic construction machinery manufacturers, therefore, the study of double?compound axial piston pump's key technology has important practical significance.Firstly, the working principle of double?compound axial piston pump is studied and the main factors which affect the output flow characteristics are analyzed theoretically in this paper. The kinematics and dynamics model of the control valve are set up, and the mathematical model of the flow area of port plate which is directly related to the flow characteristics is built. Both of them are the foundation of simulation model for the double?compound axial piston pump.Secondly, the macro?flow and micro?leakage model of the double?compound axial piston pump are established. A double?compound axial piston pump's simulation model is created based on SimulationX, which is used in many disciplines. Pressure and flow pulsation rate are obtained by the simulation model, also the pressure?flow(P?Q) curve is gained. And based on the existing results, major deputy campaign's leakage characteristics are obtained, so the complete flow characteristics of the double?compound axial piston pump is acquired.Finally, the hysteresis phenomenon in PQ characteristics when the pump works is resolved. The main reasons for this phenomenon are found through theoretical analysis and simulation model, and the correctness of theoretical analysis and simulation model is proved through experiments.
