At present, filling body of the large size crushed stone as a common filling form, has been used in many filling projects. But because the filler has the speciality of large size,little fine aggregate,nonhomogeneity,the great challenge has been given to the engineering construction technique and engineering testing technique, for example, the problem that how to choose the construction parameters to get the best effection, and which evaluation indicators chosen could charge the compaction quality. Although the large size crushed stone has been used in projects widely, the research of the theoretics is immature. This paper is set in an earthwork project, the soil tests and the field construction experiment are introduced, the construction technique and the methods to appraisal of compaction quality are researched, the method to choose reasonable construction experiment is put forward, the standard to appraisal of compaction quality is determined, the quality appraisal system is set up, and the rationality of the standard by the result of the settlement observation is proved.①Through the soil tests (sieving test, specific gravity test, compaction tests and compression strength tests) for the large size crushed rock filler, the filler's gradation, density and strength are analysed. The orderliness of filler's gradation that varies with the construction, the orderliness of density that varies with the rock size, the orderliness of maximum dry density that varies with content of the little fine aggregate and the orderliness of strength that influenced the selected of the construction technique are researched. The basis for the research of compaction technique are provided.②Though the field construction (dynamic compaction and punching press) and the engineering testing for the large size crushed rock filler, analyse the influence of construction technique upon the compaction quality. The relation between the filler's strength and the compaction technique are researched, the method to choose reasonable construction experiment is put forward by the filler's speciality and the experiment result.③Based on the speciality of large size whole crushed rock, the applicability and the disadvantages of any kinds of the evaluation methods and the indicators(the physical indicators, the mechanical indicators, and the geophysical prospecting indicators) for the filling body of the large size crushed rock are researched, the quality appraisal system for project is put forward. ④Apply production of the research in the earthwork project. Though the statisical comparison, the compaction standard is put forward ,the effectivity of the standard is evaluated. The quality appraisal system for project is consummated. Though the research of compaction standard, the method to choose the standard by the hypothesis testing in statistics is put forward. The rationality of the standard by the result of the settlement observation is proved.This paper analyses the compaction technology of the large size crushed rock by the methods of project experiment and numerical analysis. Engineering construction technique and engineering testing technique which suit the large size crushed rock has been put forward. This research would promote the widespread use of the large size crushed rock in project. The research results of the engineering construction technique and engineering testing technique for the filling body of the large size crushed rock is of practical significance and use value to the ensure the project quality, rate of progress, and effectively control the project investment.
