Instability of wool fabrics such as felting and hygralexpansion is the typical problem in processing and use,which is a great flaw in usage.So the antfelting treatment became the main content to improve its use value. Now Chlorine-Hercosett finishing is one of the best and the most common shrinkproofing methods.It's harmful to the bodies and environments for its AOX(absorbable organic halogen),so many countries have forbidden it.Ozone,as a kind of effective and environmental-friendly oxidizer,has been focused in shrinkproofing area. The technological parameters were optimized through the comparison between the shrinkproofing effects and damage of experimental parameters,the shrinkproofing mechanism was carefully discussed employing modernized instruments such as SEM,FTIR-ATR etc,which were used to analyze the changes of scales surface and components between untreated and treated samples.And through the comparison between ozone finish and others,it discovered the advantages and the disadvantages of ozone treatment.The issue also discussed the felting characterization of wool fiber especially the loose wool and top,and put forward and established the characterization method using biaxial stretching property.Through the optimization of parameters,the comparative experiments of different shrinkproofing methods on washing,pilling, dyeing and so on and the discussions of felting characterization;it can be concluded as following:(1) In the pretreatment of ozone shrinkproofing process,the PMS was the ideal oxidizer when the effects of treatments and the damage to the fiber were considered in DCCA,PMS,K2S2O8 and KMnO4.Ozone treatment was the core in all the process,it can be known the best effects and the least damage can be achieved only under atmosphere temperature, 2%(o.w.f) of ozone concentrate through compartment experiments.The reduction treatments was continue of the ozone treatment and can consolidate the effects of ozone treatments,so it was an essential step in the whole process.(2) Good and lasting shrinkproofing effects can be achieved through ozone treatments.Wool fabrics can meet the demand of mechanic washing and its shrinkage kept under 10%after 30 times washing.At the same time,the ozone treated fabrics also had good performance in ant pilling,with fourth grade,and waterproofing which make the fabric be of warm-keeping property.It was also good at whiteness and dyeing.(3) It was a new method to characterize the felting property of wool using biaxial stretching property.It's monotonous between stretching property and felting property.The characterization index such as the initial modulus,yield point and the maximum can reflect the felting property from different aspects.the two directions stretch can also reflect the relationship between fibers in different directions and,further,the structural of the felt.Based on these discussions,this issue designed the sample-making and testing instruments.
