Sustainable Development Of The Typical Rocky Desertification Region

Rocky desertification is an extreme manifestation of land degradation in the karst areas. China is one of the world's most widespread karst countries, and is also the most serious country that suffered from the rocky desertification. The survey shows that China's karst area is more than1.24million square kilometers, about12.9percent of the national land area, which mainly distributed in southwest. Currently, the rocky desertification area in southwest has reached129,600square kilometers, and the moderate rocky desertification area has reached94000square kilometers, accounted for72.5%. So the rocky desertification in southwest alongside with the desertification of the Northwest Territories and the soil erosion in Loess Plateau become the three major ecological problems in China. Serious ecological problems, not only greatly restricts the carrying capacity of the environment of rocky desertification region, but also become a major bottleneck to limit the demographic, economic and social development of these areas, is the main reason for the poverty and backwardness of these areas.Regional sustainable development is a complex systems engineering. Bogged down in the multiple difficulties of the economic, social and environmental development, the sustainable development of rocky desertification region has become more difficult. Since the1990s, the sustainable development of rocky desertification region has gradually become the focus of domestic academia. This article took the typical rocky desertification region-Guanling county for example, attempted to make an empirical analysis of Guanling, and summed up the universal law of the development of rocky desertification region, and then build a sustainable development model which fit with rocky desertification region, hope to provide a reference for the development of the majority of rocky desertification region. This article mainly consists of five parts:Part1: Introduction. Mainly introduces the research background, research objectives and research system (including the research methodology, research process and technology paths), as well as international and domestic research status.Part2:The status of the region. Mainly makes a comprehensive analysis of natural resources and economic and social development status of Guanling County.Part3:Evaluation of Sustainable Development on Guanling County. Considered the main problems faced by the rocky desertification region in the process of sustainable development, build a evaluation index system, and conduct a comprehensive evaluation on the sustainable development capacity of Guanling.Part4:Guanling County Sustainable Development Model. Based on the status analysis and evaluation of Sustainable Development of in the previous two chapters, learn from existing sustainable development experience, build a sustainable development model for Guanling.Part5:Conclusions and Outlook. Mainly summarizes the general experience of the sustainable development model for rocky desertification region.
