Since the water scarceness is worsening and the municipal sewage as thealternative resources has become a common understanding, the recycling of themunicipal sewage has drawn more and more attention throughout the world.Against this background, this paper tries to discuss the advanced treatment of the municipalsewage treated through biochemical methods with the aim to reuse it. After the sewage analysis and a comparison with the quality standard of reuse water, it is clear about which contamination in the municipal sewage still needscleaning. In the study, the ultrafiltration(UF) and Reverse Osmosis(RO) technology is adopted to treat the sewage. The pilot scale device is employed. Taking a Plant as an example, the author first analyzes the waste waterquality, then tests in the spot. The Permeate water of ultrafiltration and reverse osmosis are used as the supply of boiler feed water treating system. The feasibility and the optimum operating conditions of ultraflltration followed by reverse osmosis are tested through a series of trials. In the Practieal application the system operation parameter was determined and operating expenses and problems are described. The membranes performances of UF and RO are tested in the experiment and appropriate operation modes are explored.
