A new sorbent of zirconium glyphosate [Zr(O3PCH2NH- CH2COOH)2, denoted as ZrGP], a kind of layered compound of zirconium phosphateeglyphosate (ZrGP) was synthesized. Its large surface area (445 m2/g) indicates this compound has possible application in adsorptions, adsorption to formaldehyde in ZrGP and mechanisms of the adsorption were studied carefully. Balance time of adsorption (about 6 h) and largest adsorbed amount (7.8%) were found when adsorption temperature was at 40℃and pH value of adsorption environment was about 3.0. H-bonds were found existing between molecules of formaldehyde and ZrGP, and formaldehyde molecules could exist in ZrGP stably.It also has adsorption to Pb2+, Cd2+, Mg2+ and Ca2+ ions in water. Compared to other inorganic sorbets to metallic ions in water, such as zirconium phosphate [Zr(HPO4)2], ZrGP exhibits highly selective adsorption to Pb2+ in a mixture that contains Pb2+, Cd2+, Mg2+ and Ca2+ ions; however to a solution that contains a single ion of which Pb2+, Cd2+, Mg2+ and Ca2+, ZrGP shows better adsorption to any of them. The preloaded ZrGP with metallic ions could be efficiently regenerated with solution of HCl (1.0 M) for multiple uses without any noticeable capacity loss. Also it is found that ZrGP has memorial effect on structural regeneration when Mg2+ and Ca2+ were adsorbed. When these two ions were adsorbed, the structure of ZrGP was destroyed, but it can be regenerated after the adsorbed assemblies were dipped into HCl solution (1.0 M) for several minutes to drive the metallic ions off the material. The adsorptions were investigated under different conditions, including the time, temperature, and the initial metallic ions'concentration. Also adsorptive capacity of the adsorbent was evaluated against a number of isotherm models, and mechanisms of the four metallic ions adsorbed by ZrGP were primarily studied.With glyphosate, glyphosate zirconium, exfoliation of ZrGP as the initial reaction products, we prepared a series of new metallocene zirconium compounds, and of the compounds are carried on the thorough characterization, thus obtain every reactions possible process and catalyst in the olefin polymerization active characterization, thus obtains the best one in three kind of catalyst polymerization catalysts.
