In accordance with the poor-bonding surface characteristics of Bamboo Green and BambooYellow,in this paper, surface of Bamboo Green and Bamboo Yellow were modified by using airplasma treatment,coupling agent treatment and joint treatment (air plasma treatment andcoupling agent treatment)separately. It was systematically investigated for the surface wettability,chemical properties and bonding performance of modified Bamboo Green and BambooYellow.The Preparation technology and performance of bamboo and wood hybrid scrimber werealso studied employing the theory of hybrid composite materials. The results were summarized asfollowings:1. Surface wettablity of Bamboo Green and Bamboo Yellow was studied in the paper.Theresults showed that the surface wettability of Bamboo Green and Bamboo Yellow improvedsignificantly after treated by plasma;The effect of improving the surface wettability by unittreatment was better than by coupling agent treatment alone.2. Surface chemical properties and chemical construction of modified Bamboo Green andBamboo Yellow were researched by means of SEM and IR. The results showed that etching tookplace on the surface of Bamboo Green after treated by plasma;Treated by coupling agent,thegreat amount of silicon element was deposited on the surface,forming an uneven layer ofcoupling agent membrance while homogenized by united treatment instead.As to the surface ofBamboo Yellow treated by plasma,roughness increases; Treated by coupling agent,many smallparticles were adsorbed on the surface, the coverage was not enough even while homogenized byunited treatment instead.IR analysis showed that bamboo green surface treated by plasmaappeared new characteristic peak, bamboo yellow surface appeared different types of hydroxylabsorption peaks,bamboo green and bamboo yellow surfaces treated by coupling agent bothadsorbed coupling agent hydrolysis product, bamboo green surface brings in more coupling agenthydrolysis product,and hydroxyl characteristic peaks of bamboo yellow surface strength greatlyincreased.3. The physico-chemical characteristics of raw materials of bamboo and wood hybridscrimber was studied.The result indicated the order of raw materials' density:Bamboo greenbundle was greater than Bamboo yellow bundle,Bamboo bundle not with the outer and innerlayers took third place,the least was wood bundle;resin soaking content of wood bundle wasmore than bamboo bundle,the optimal soaking time and solid content of resin were25min and30%,respectively.4. Preparation technology and performance of bamboo and wood hybrid scrimber wasresearched. The result showed that the performance of bamboo scrimber(with bamboo greenbundle) was best by unite treatment,MORwas114MPa,MOEwas20065MPa,IBwas 1.31MPa,compared with untreated bamboo scrimber,were increased by36.5%,26.3%and57.8%respectively.As wood bundle ratio reduced in bamboo and wood hybrid scrimber,the pressureneed rise,unit pressure,wood/bamboo hybrid ratio and raw material form had obvious influenceon the performance of bamboo and wood hybrid scrimber.
