The performance of the device will be greatly restricted in the traditional space charge wave devices, because of the nonlinearity of longitudinal interaction mechanism. But the performance of the electron beam transverse wave devices will be improved because the unique transverse interaction mechanism can reduce the nonlinearity. Now the research on it has gradually been an important direction of microwave electronics. Many new devices have been designed which can be used in microwave systems with a high efficiency. At the same time, these amplifiers have good linearity. Circularly polarized traveling wave tube is one kind of the new devices, which uses spiral twinned comb loaded the circular waveguide slow-wave structure. This structure is researched in the article. The jobs are as follows:Firstly, the study of straight twinned comb loaded circular waveguide slow-wave structure based on traditional interaction mechanism is presented in this paper. The study is helpful to understand the longitudinal mechanisms, and paves the way for later work. The high-frequency characteristics are mainly studied by using high-frequency simulation software HFSS to calculate the dispersion characteristics and coupling impedance.Secondly, spiral twinned comb loaded circular waveguide based on the transverse interaction mechanism is studied. As a result of the transverse mechanism's particularity, we only do research on dispersion. Two cross-section structures are discussed, including rectangular and fan sections. The software HFSS is used to simulate and analysis of the structures. Researching each parameter effect on the dispersion and comparing the dispersion curve of the various structures can provide a basis for the beam - wave interaction studies.At last, the theoretical analysis of the spiral twinned comb structure is studied using field knowledge. After doing some simplifications processing, the dispersion equation is obtained.
