Advanced transmitting and receiving technology, such as channel coding, transmitting diversity, and good transmission frame, is a key point for performance of communication systems. Channel coding includes coding and decoding mainly; and the diversity of transmitting is mainly on time and spatial domains. The receiver consists of synchronization, equalization, detection, and decoding parts etc.There are great many researches on Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO) system now because it offers good diversity and multiplexing gains. On the other side, because of its multiple antennas'structure, it suffers more interruptions on time, spatial, and frequency domains, which leads to good complexity of the channel. Too fast fading channel brings Doppler shift, while channels with too concentrated scatterers suffers spatial correlation; and channels whose frequency bandwidth is narrower than signals'is frequency selective (FS).For frequency plain fading MIMO, this thesis introduces VBLAST detection method all known but not the important content here. This thesis focuses on transmission methods on frequency selective and spatial correlated (SCFS) MIMO. The ultimate aim of the thesis is to obtain better performance with lower complexity need under this complex MIMO system.Repeat-accumulate (RA) codes are ones with good performance and lower complexity. So they can be introduced to MIMO for performance improvement. So united design method of RA codes and MIMO is discussed here.For interruption canceling of frequency selective channel, iterative equalization based on sliding-window model is one kind of methods. But this method is not so suitable for spatial correlative channel. Owing to its too poor channel circumstance, maximum likelihood (ML) detection should be used, which brings great complexity increase. List sphere decoding (LSD) is a low complexity approximate method of ML, which is introduced in the thesis.Based on introduction above, the main work of this thesis is listed below:1. A model of MIMO is given, and the reason FS and SCFS channels generated and method to build them is given in detail.2. Methods to code and decode binary and non-binary RA codes are given.3. The theory of iterative soft interruption cancellation based on antenna by antenna MMSE (ABA MMSE) and joint antennas detection based MMSE (JAD MMSE) is deeply discussed.4. The idea of sphere decoding and the solution of decoding radius are introduced here.5. The joint design method of RA codes and MIMO is given. It consists of method using RA+JAD MMSE or RA+JAD MMSE+LSD. And the situations when degree of codes is bigger, less than or equal to that of demodulation are argued.At the end of the paper, a series of simulation results is shown to give a numerical analysis of the methods above.
