Lead zirconate titanate (PZT) materials were widely used for sensors and actuators for their promising ferroelectric, piezoelectric and pyroelectric properties. In this thesis, screen-printed PbZr0.3Ti0.7O3 thick film materials and single-element infrared detectors were investigated. The thick film pastes preparation parameters were studied. Organic component, proportion of powder and ball-milling process were optimized. Pastes with improved stability, uniformity and rheological properties are made. Influences of sintering profile and polarization field were investigated to improve thick films properties. The crystallization, microstructure, dielectric and pyroelectric properties were studied. Thick films fabricated by optimum process show pure perovskite structure; Curie temperature was 425℃; dielectric constant and loss tangent tested at 1 kHz under room temperature were 85.46 and 0.01584 respectively; pyroelectric coefficient was 9.14×10-9C/cm2·K.The densification and"skeleton structure"of thick films were discussed. It was indicated that thick films with appropriate porosity have better detectivity.Single-element infrared detector with 5×5mm2 area based on PZT thick films were fabricated by laser etching. The voltage response and noise of detector were measured by mechanically chopped blackbody radiation (500K) as the function of frequency (8.5Hz-2217Hz), detectivity D* ranging from 3.4×107 to 1.7×108 cmHz1/2W-1 were derived.
