To solve the growing problem of traffic jam and take advantage of the various transport resources, the most effective way is to establish a high-efficient intelligent transport system. Microwave vehicle detection radar is a way of road information collection for the intelligent transport system. It has vast potential for future development. In this dissertation, the research and design of the microwave vehicle detection radar based on LFMCW is presented.Firstly, the application of LFMCW radar is introduced in this dissertation. According to the actual situation, the system chooses the working frequency range and working structure of the microwave vehicle detection radar. Then, the dissertation designs the system schema in detail, including the hardware structure schema and the software structure schema. On the basis of positive-side installation of the radar, the dissertation analyses the key parameters for the system in detail.After that, the systematic digital signal processing algorithm which is divided into several modules is analyzed in the dissertation. The analysis and improvement schemes of each module are given. In the signal acquisition module, the dissertation analyses and improves the sampling precision and ranging precision of the intermediate frequency signal. In the target recognition module, in order to remove the interference of clutters and noise, a digital filtering bank used for eight-lane-detecting radar is designed. Then, adaptive threshold based on two reference cells is proposed and simulated. To eliminate the effect of zero signals, a multi-decision method is proposed to reduce the probability of misjudgment caused by the existence of zero signals.At last, the dissertation finishes the bottom programs of writing and debugging on account of DSP chip, and realizes basic function of the software and the calculation of the vehicle detection radar. Joint debugging is proced combined with the front end module.
