With the rapid development of information technology, the way people communicate has transformed. And people are also learning via diverse media, from traditional face-to-face, multimedia, to online learning. Although online learning facilitates learners and saves their cost, the traditional face-to-face learning style still exists. How to evaluate learning effects with different media is not only the concern of education institutes and researchers who focus on training and education, but also the learners themselves. The dissertation attempts to compare the learning effects of face-to-face learning, online video learning and text learning, to provide suggestions for corporations to choose suitable training media, and for learners to choose economical learning pattern.Theoretically integrating Media Richness Theory, Technology Contact Theory, Cognitive Theory etc., we focused on finding the facts influencing learning effects, measured by degree of knowledge acquisition, satisfaction and intention to use, under different media conditions. We considered not only media factor, but also user characteristics, including learning ability, general user self-efficacy, media familiarity, etc. Empirical evidences shows that media richness, user self-efficacy and learning ability significantly influence user satisfaction and knowledge acquisition. And media familiarity is positively correlated with knowledge acquisition, which further affects the user ultimate intention to use in turn. In addition, we also find the intention to use knowledge is strongly affected by the incentives provided for users.
