Spondylopathy, which happens with the tendency of law age, has become the common and high incidence diseases in our country. In recent years, the surgical operation of spondyle has been improved greatly with the application of the graphics and image techniques of computer in the medical field.3D medical image can make up the deficiency of 2D, which will reduce the possibility of misdiagnosis and diagnosis errors, however, accurate 3D positioning and registration of the clinic are still the unresolved problems. At present, surgical navigation and virtual surgical technique can not meet the clinic needs. As far as the author concerned, the unsolved techniques of accurate model-building, positioning, simulating and a large number of accurate data missing are the key points. In this paper, with the medical theory of spondyle as the theoretical basis, the computer visualization technology as the tool, the author studies and establishes the statistic geometric model of spondyle, which provides a multitude of accurate data for the medical diagnosis. The main research progresses are the following:1. The establishment of 3D image database of spondyle. The CT images, collected by the medical imaging equipment, can be renewed into 3D images through movement stereo method after the process of image restoration, correction, enhancement and edge extraction and simplification. Then, the 3D model will be put into the database, whose samples can be used as statistical model of training samples.2. The calibration of the spondyle's sampling points. Through summarizing the relevant scholars'definitions of cranium, craniofacial features and describing the unique characteristics of the human spondyle, this thesis proposes the standard of extracting the sampling points of geometric data and new calculations of manual interaction. According to the deficiency of traditional methods, the author designs an interactive calibration system of spondyle's sampling points, which improves the accuracy and efficiency of sampling points.3. The establishment and study of the spondyle's statistic geometric model. The marked 3D model is the sample. The author has a statistic of the samples, which can build a statistic model of the spondyle. Then, a new model is forming by adding the transformation part of the model.4. The implementation and design of system. In order to meet the medical treatment needs, the author designs and implements the diagnosis and treatment system of spondyle, which is based on statistic model. According to the design of the diagnosis and treatment, the system adopts the idea of modeling, which realizes the CT data's acquisition, image pre-processing,3D reconstruction, the calibration of the spondyle's sampling points and other processes in the form of subsystem. This system, which combines the medicine, modern statistics and computer technology, provides reliable treatment and scientific proof for the common Spondylopathy. This subject is supported by the National Natural Science Foundation project "3D geometry statistic model's study of the spine and spondyle" (60871097).
