With the development of technology and improvement of the antenna performance requirements, dual-band dual-polarized antenna becomes more and more attractive to the majority of researchers. This kind of antenna combines the advantages of dual-band antenna and dual-polarized antenna, can not only improve the antenna performance greatly, but also reduce the cost of the system. However, its complex performance also brings difficulties to the research and design. Therefore, the research to dual-band dual-polarized antenna will be of great academic significance and potential applications. The research of this article is mainly on a single feed slot loaded dual-band dual-polarized antenna.Firstly this article briefly describes the theory and analysis of microstrip antenna, then under the classification of single-patch structure and layered structure, this article gives a simple overview on the domestic and international research about the dual band dual polarization antenna. Then with the background of satellite communication, this article makes three improvements to a kind of coaxial feed dual-band dual-polarized slot loaded antenna, studies the parameters in detail, points out a conclusion error of frequency ratio controlling in the origin literature, and gives a correct conclusion of frequency ration controlling for the improved structure. On the basis of parameters study, we design a dual-band dual-polarized antenna with the center frequencies at 12.5GHz and 14.25GHz, which works at a pair of orthogonal linear polarization.In studies of antenna array, this article firstly discusses the conditions of avoiding grating lobes and the method of realizing low side-lobe, and then achieves the Dolph-Chebyshev distribution of the current with series-fed structure. Aimed at the phenomenon of the antenna radiation pattern distortion during the simulation, the paper studies and verifies their causes, and gives a conclusion. Finally, based on the simulation results we machining and measure the designed antenna.At the end, we summarize the work of this paper, and propose some question which need improvement and further study.
