The technology of three-dimensional reconstruction from medical images is one of the most important hotpots in the the current medical imaging research, which is widely used in diagnostic, surgery planning and simulating, virtual endoscopy, teaching in anatomy. Study on three-dimensional reconstruction from medical images has important significance on science and worthiness in practical application. This dissertation mostly studies the technology of three-dimensional reconstruction of medical images based on MITK. First, interactive segmentation methods are discussed. With regard to three-dimensional reconstruction, firstly, the marching cubes algorithm based Iso-Surface rendering is introduced and its principle is detailed analyzed, then a efficient MC algorithm based on optimizing of the Iso-Surface is presented which can improve the traditional MC algorithm and 3D-reconstruction is realized on the MITK. Considering the speed of response, a mesh simplification algorithm based on edge collapse is provided and successfully used in simplification of medical 3D model with a large number of triangles. Secondly, a detailed analysis about the principle and process of ray-casting algorithm is elaborated, then volume rendering of medical images on MITK is realized. Finally, a interactive three-dimensional reconstruction technology is studied and then an interactive medical 3D-reconstruction system is designed and implemented in the environment of VC++ 6.0 by using surface rendering on MITK.The system can deal with the data reading, 3D-reconstruction, and has the function of displaying clipping plane of 3D volume data from any angle and measuring the distance and angle in 3D image. The preliminary function of 3D-interactive reconstruction system is achieved.
