As a self-organizing mobile wireless network, no base stations are supported on Mobile Ad hoc Network (MANET) for communication. Ad hoc Network owns some characteristics like self-organization, multi-hop and a frequently topology, which has gained increasing popularity in recent years. There have been some problems needed to conquered in research field in Ad Hoc network, which are routing protocols, energy saving, network security, and so on. One of the most significant things is routing protocols. Routing is composed by unicast, multicast, and flooding, however, multicast has been an important research aspect on Ad Hoc network because of its gigantic application. In this paper, as a key technique on Ad Hoc network, of which multicast is introduced based on the introduction of network structure firstly. Also, some typical multicast routing protocols are classified, analyzed, compared with each other on foundation in domestic and overseas research, through above works, MAODV protocol is much more adapt to the characteristic for multi-hop and a frequently topology in the tree-based protocols, moreover,it's further performance acclimatizes itself to networks.ODMRP protocol is more adapt to a multi-hop and frequently topology which belongs to mesh-based protocols. At last, two improved methods are proposed, including a protocol which is based in route optimal choice arithmetic named PA-MAODV,and a protocol which is based in multiple route arithmetic named MRA-ODMRP ,whose route mechanisms are also particular expatiated. The thesis uses NS2 as the simulation tool. The improved protocol which is named PA-MAODV is compared with AODV, MAODV. At the end, PA-MAODV protocol has been expatiated through the process of practice, emulation, performance analysis, compared with the MAODV, AODV in delay and packet delivery ratio, a higher performance to be adapted to the network environment. Also, compared with ODMRP protocol in several aspects including packets delivered ratio, affects for the mulicast groups joined in the route, protocol overhead, the results manifest MRA-ODMRP is much improved in packets delivered ratio.
