Overseas Travels In The Late Qing Dynasty Museum

Because of the lost of Opium War, the Qing government was forced to learn from western countries step by step. "Western Learning" at that time of China is complicated. The process is from outside to inside, from the shallow to the deep, it was a difficult exploration and a slowly absorption. Museum ,as a civilization storage and an education place, was an western modernizing product. It was also been imported along with the "From west to east" tide. Many travel notes were written in late Qing Dynasty , There were a lot of vivid and detailed records about the foreign museums, these records were the main windows for the people to recognize and understand the museum then, they were also foundation of our country's museum construction and our early museology . This article was based on the statistics of the records about museum in the travel notes, expecting to give a limited view of the development of the overseas museums at the modem times ,and a simple discussion of the influence of the travel notes to our early museum development!...
