Basing on the analyses of variety characteristics of apple trees,this paper proposes methods for constructing geometric models of apple tree organs and simulating the growth process of apple trees by using computer-aided design methods, Markov stochastic process and semi-Markov random process.Finally this paper implements software system by combining the above-mentioned technologies.The focus and results of this paper including:1.Three-dimension visualization of apple organs.The branches of apple tree are modeled by using cylinder basing on the characteristics of apple branch,and random bending parameters are used to implement the bending of branch.The cross-quadrilateral and transparent mapping are used to simulate leaf and flower of apple tree,and the paper used the Bezier curves to fit the apple fruit outline.The three-dimension model of fruit is easy to control and its parameters have significant physical meaning.2.Simulating growth process of apple tree.This paper proposes a random model for simulating the branching structure of apple trees by using Markov stochastic process and hidden semi-Markov stochastic process.The Mathematical model that is accurate,objective,universal can be expanded to branch modeling of other fruit species.Using texture mapping model implements the growth process of apple leaf, which reaches real-time treatment and realistic leaf of different ages.And the paper simulates growth process of apple flower and fruit by linear interpolation,this method is high-speed to calculate and easy to control.3.Modeling growth process of apple trees.Basing the above methods,a three-dimension visualized simulation system for apple trees has been implemented by integrating Visual C++ platform and OpenGL graphic engine.The results verified the system for simulating the growth process of apple tree.
