When it comes to the the twenty-first century,the technology develops rapidly, and the cumputer applications have set foot in almost every aspect of people's lives. With the intensifying combination trend of 3C(computer,communication, consumer electronics),the embedded devices,due to its minitype,low power consumption,flexibility,occupy a larger market and have got more space for development.More and more attention are paid on the friendly usability,so the research and application of embedded GUI are getting more and more popular.The research is based on an ARM embedded system terminal which is used to broadcast information.It uses the S3C44BOX chip,a chip of 4M Flash,a chip of 16M SDRAM,a serial port,network port,LCD,etc.The terminal transmiss, through the campus network,instructions and class information according to the curriculum.In this paper,based on the ARM hardware platform,the ARM mode,the development tools for ARM have been studied,the structure and management of uClinux,system bootfile Bootloader,the filesystem JFFS2,the Microwindows GUI have been finished.The work mainly carded out is to modify,compile and transplant U-Boot,to tailor and transplant uClinux,to code in Microwindows, and to make Chinese characters display crorectly.Microwindows is a small open-source GUI system which is ideal for embedded device applications.Its unique layered model is more conducive to the programme of the applications.Lightweight and easy to transplant,easy to load the font libraries.Therefore,this system uses the Microwindows to make the LCD screen display information.In order to enrich the aesthetic display text,the applications loaded on the 16th,24th,32nd fonts in both English and Chinese.This paper analyzes the Microwindows structure,completed the design of the application successfully transplant uClinux,and finally complete all the task of the system to display correct information on the LCD screen.
