Because of its integration, high reliability, and shorter product launch cycles,SoC gradually becomes the mainstream design of embedded systems technology. As the SoC chip manufacturing process and design advances in the scale of the index rise, the ability to verify lags far behind design capacity, and it becomes the bottlenecks of producing more complex, more large-scale chip. Software and hardware has been inextricably linked in SoC embedded systems, and the proportion of embedded software getting more large, the synchronization design and verification of hardware and software is becoming an inevitable trend to solve the chip verification problem effectively.After full discussion on SoC design and verification technology, this paper focused on hardware and software co-design and verification technology. Combined with a SoC chip research and development project based on FC protocol, a complete set of hardware and software SoC chip co-verification implementation plans was given . This paper introduced the system structure of the chip, IP resources to build and verify a chip. Two verification platforms like virtual prototyping and FPGA verification platform are introduced as well. The two platforms complement each other with their advantage. The chip had a level of authentication, can improve the quality and efficiency of verification. On this basis, the co-verification methodology was propounded based on the embedded real-time operating system. Based on this verification platform,VxWorks operating system was transplanted, verification process and applications were also developed and designed.The results showed that the verification based on the operating system can verify chip design functions as well as system functions effectively, and it can also discovery SoC hardware design defects as soon as possible. This will ensures the accuracy and reliability and provides an effective means for fully chip verification.
