The geospace, which includes the upper atmosphere, ionosphere and magnetosphere, is the most important region of human space activities. The physical characteristics and disturbance of the region are very important to the economic, military, science and technology activities of human. The earth is surrounded by the plasmasphere with a thickness of about 10Re(Radius of the Earth). The observation of the plasmasphere imaging is the main means in researching the taking place reasons and the physical models of the storms and substorms, and also the key method for human beings to predict the magnetic storm, space environment, space weather, and natural disaster. The target of this thesis is to develop the extreme ultraviolet detector for the study of the distribution of He~+ in Earth's plasmasphere by detecting its resonantly-scattered emission at 30.4 nm. This detector is a kind of photon counting imaging detectors, which has some properties such as high gain, small distortion and high resolution. The detector is mainly composed by photo-cathode, MCPs, wedge-and-strip anode and electronic circuit. It has a broad prospect because it's not only can be applied to space particle detection, but also can be used as biological fluorescence, environmental monitoring and other fields. In this thesis, the principle of the Wedge-and-strip anode (WSA) detector and other related types of detectors are introduced firstly. And then, the design and fabrication of various parts of the system are discussed. The single-photon sources, the design and facture of wedge-and-strip anode detector are solved. The electronic circuit is consisted of the charge sensitive preamplifiers, the shape amplifiers and the data acquisition card. At the same time, in order to evaluate the detector performance, the properties such as the dark count rate and resolution were tested. The results showed that the design of the detector's dark count rate as low as 0.4 counts/s*cm~2, nonlinear distortion is less than 1 %, and spatial resolution is better than 100μm. The performance of the detector met the design requirements basicly. At the same time, the impacts of the detector's performance were also analyzed. At last, some suggestions for the further work were proposed.
