A multiple-slit streak tube with the high temporal and spatial resolution is introduced in this paper, which is the key detector used for three-dimensional laser imaging radar. Now, laser-based electro-optic imaging systems are being increasingly developed to provide improved range and contrast of underwater imagery. Electro-optic identification sensors provide photographic quality images and were developed to identify objects of interest on the ocean bottom. Two of these high-resolution sensors are currently in use: one based on Streak Tube Imaging Lidar (STIL) technology and the other based on Laser Line Scan (LLS) technology. They differ in that LLS sensors produce two-dimensional (2-D) contrast images only while STIL produces three-dimensional (3-D) data. Multiple-Slit Streak Tube Imaging Lidar (MS-STIL) represents a new method for using streak tubes in a laser radar configuration. The MS-STIL approach uses several slits instead of the usual single slit to provide a number of additional capabilities over conventional laser radar systems. Therefore, the development and research of Multi-slit streak tube is the key as the development of a three-dimensional laser imaging radar. In this paper, the goal is to using their ability of temporal resolution to distinguish right time to achieve scannerless imaging high-definition, high-precision detection at close range or in the distance. Through the 3-D laser imaging radar technology analysis, calculated a multiple-slit streak tube the performance parameters used in the original tube, based on the reduced size of the axial type. In the electronic optical design which based on the completion of the multi-slit streak tube as the structural design and mechanical processing, mainly of electronic optical-loaded electrodes, multi-alkali photocathode production, the screen process to create a multiple-slit streak tube. We carried out the static and dynamic experiments. The result is more satisfactory.
