With the development of the Internet technology in recent years, many single media have been turned into data in Internet transmission gradually and the combination of different Internet media has emerged in endlessly. At present, many new applications in Internet come into being, among which the applications of upper bandwidth multimedia being the most, for example, Internet video meeting, Internet audio-video broadcasting, multimedia long-distance education, log-distance consultation. However, the traditional network, which is typically in point-to-point pattern, was originally designed to transmit data reliably by Peer-Peer Protocol (PPP). This characteristic of the traditional network increases network-transmitting load and leads to network delay, which in turn bring about such problems as the rapid consumption of bandwidth and network jam. To this network channel problem, people put forward the use of IP multicasting technology.Under the circumstances of one-to-more communication, multicasting technology can reduce network flux effectively, increase the efficiency of network communication, abate the load of the Internet servers, and improve the quality of data transmitting . In multicasting network, the main bandwidth dose not have to increase though the number of the Internet users increases abruptly. Therefore, the increase of the network size does not add to the burden of net network. Multicasting technology is most applicable to bandwidth-consuming multimedia such as network monitoring system , network film data transmission. This thesis aims to discuss how to use IP multicasting technology to reduce the network jam and the burden of the Internet servers and increase the efficiency of data transmission, combining the application of Internet video transmission in network. It probes into such questions as the arithmetic and technology of multicasting routing especially. On the basis of the above research, this theses develops a multicasting technology application system model, network monitoring system. Using LAN multicasting technology, this system can monitor the manufacturing machines to the Monitoring Center and the PC. Bringing network multicasting and increasing the efficiency of transmission, this system can reduce cost, improve flexibility , and make full use of the network resources in existence.
