The Internet rapid development has greatly changed people's lifestyle. Computers connected to the network can achieve information sharing, online payment, e-mail, instant message, online multimedia applications, and so on. The network has been gradually become an important and indispensable part of our daily life. It is well-known that each independent computer on the Internet must possess an exclusive IP address. But the TCP / IP protocol suite, which is currently supporting the Internet, has its inherent shortcomings. On the one hand, the protocol is lack of considering for network security. On the other hand, especially the 32-bit IP address of IPv4 encountered an awkward situation of being exhausted, which will limit the further development of Internet Although technology NAT can temporarily alleviate the pressure of the shortage of IP address, but these technologies can not fundamentally solve the problem at all. IPv4 will necessarily transit to IPv6.However, the transition from IPv4 to IPv6 won't be accomplished in an action. Since now the internet is involved with large coverage area, complicated network structure, and lots of expensive network devices, moreover people's work, life and study are increasingly tie to the Internet, it is should be an long-term, complex and gradual process that transiting from IPv4 to IPv6; Before the new IPv6 network fully covers the whole world, the old IPv4 network is still indispensable. If there is no an effectual transition technology, any advanced protocol can't take actual effect. The first problem should be resolved is that how to complete the conversion from IPv4 to IPv6. Currently many proposals of resolving seamlessly transition from IPv4 to IPv6 have been put forward. In order to achieve the goals of gradual transition, deployment, address compatibility and reducing cost, IETF recommended evolution schemes like dual protocol stacks, tunnel and NAT.This paper introduces a technology of IPv6 in UDP over IPv4, which is a good supplement for existent transition schemes. It has the IPv6 data encapsulated into IPv4 UDP packet, then using the in-connective characteristic of UDP, the IPv6 encapsulated data can be transmitted through most NAT devices on the IPv4 network, so that the goal of accessing IPv6 resource can be reached successfully. This is of great significant for those using private IP users who generally adopt NAT device to accessing IPv6 network. This paper also analyses the current famous protocols of Teredo and Silkroad, and current familiar IPv4 to IPv6 transition technologies. The test system and platform has been installed and set up through the way of Virtual Machines. And the Teredo tunnel has been implemented by using the opening source software.
