Rapid development of the network laid the groundwork for computer aided Instruction, remote education, web-based education and life-long learning. In the light of the latest education conception and network technology, based on a shareable content object structured model, a self-adaptive remote education platform is built, which can make the education systems more transplantable, more communicable and more maintainable. The thesis addresses the issue of how to achieve the personality and self-adaptation of a remote education system via the cognitive learner model. The format and content of the learning resources are precisely defined, the XML and learning object technology are studied, based on which, the content hierarchy model are proposed. In addition, the adoption of remote technique standard used in content packaging model ensures the sharing of resources throughout the Internet.Concentrates on the establishment of knowledge database, the system separates the learning managing and learning content, devises and stores the knowledge properly, establishes a knowledge database suitable for use. It also enables the learners to make a schedule of and carry out their learning project by themselves. The system consist of four layers: learning layer, adaptive teaching layer, supporting layer and teaching managing layer. Item response theory, cognitive learning theory, artificial intelligence and network communication are used in the system to make it self-adaptive of learning result diagnosing, learning content scheduling and learning strategy planning. The system contributes to resource sharing and self-construction of knowledge, it achieve learner-centered, result-feedback personalized learning.
