With the rapid growth of telecommunications services whose representative are the multimedia services, the competition between manufacturers increasing fiercely. Manufacturers have started to seek a more efficient, more economical and more rapid overall solution in order to win in the competition. The major challenge for the manufactures is that how to reduce the cost of developing new products, how to complete product design quickly, and shortening the time-to-market. How to resolve these two issues will largely determine the competitiveness of manufacturers.Application of 3G mobile communication will be a starting point of the development of mobile communications. As mobile communications and information appliances integrated into consumer electronics products is the trend of future, they require higher performance of embedded technology. On the one hand, the system should support high-resolution graphics interface and high-quality voice communications so as to processing large amount of data rapidly, on the other hand, the system should give a accurate data before the cutoff time. How to make the system has the hard real-time performance and a strong support of network, graphics, and file system has become the trend of research and development,In this paper, the objective is to design and implementation an open architecture, expandable, easy to maintain software and hardware platform which has good human-computer interface. The input and output of the system platform is analog IF. This needs no use to concern the RF front-end, and can greatly enhance the flexibility of the platform, expand the scope of application.In terms of software, the author presented and implemented a system which is a combination of uC/OS-II real-time kernel and uClinux, considering communications equipment require restrict higher time delay features. This can guarantee the real-time feature of the system on the one hand, on the other hand, the user can user the powerful function such as file system, network interface and graphic interface of the uClinux. uC/OS-II and uClinux are open-source operating system, and have a wide range of popular in industry. This makes it possible to reuse of the software, and to reduce production cost, speed-up the development cycle.At the same time, the platform is also designed to support some basic input and output devices such as TFT LCD screen, keyboard, and PC communication interfaces. The implement of device driver for these peripherals in the uClinux environment enables the top developers focus on the development of application software, and no use to concern about the details of the underlying hardware.The platform provides a flexible environment for communications products. The user needs to add his specified application according specified product in order to reduce the unnecessary duplication of work, speed-up product design cycles, reduce the time-to-market.
