With the rapid development of wireless communication technology, wireless communication products are widely used in various kinds of applications, which have been an important component of information society. RF receiver is located at the most front end of wireless communication system, the structure and performance of which will directly affect the whole communication system. For this reason, RF engineers tend to optimize structure design and select better manufacturing technology for RF receiver to improve cost-effective of the whole system. Because zero Intermediate Frequency (IF) receiver features small volume, low cost, and easy to integration, it has become an attractive structure for RF receiver and been widely interested by wireless communication domain. This paper introduces the performance and characteristics of superheterodyne and zero IF structures, analyzes the potential problems of zero IF structure, and provides the design method and related technology for zero IF receiver.Firstly, a simple comparison between superheterodyne and zero IF will be implemented, and the benefits of zero IF structure will be provided.Secondly, the main problems in zero IF structure will be classified, and reasons for each type of problem will be specifically analyzed.Thirdly, in consideration of problems in zero IF structure, reasonable solution will be provided based on current technology to implement design ideas of engineer in engineering. Finally, the issues that should be considered in system design will be provided using currently common zero IF chips.
