The problems about multitask stream, magnitude datum and complex algorithms real-time processing have to be resolved urgently because of the multi-channel CCD with high frame frequency and high resolution applied. Now, single DSP (digital signal processor) can no longer fully coping with these problems. Parallel processing platform based on multi-DSP needs to be developed to fulfill the present and future requirements of different tasks under various system environments. In order to design a multi-DSP system with excellent expansibility, powerful processing ability and strong flexibility, this dissertation: (1) analyzed the developing trend of present architecture of parallel platform and nuclear processor, (2) investigated the traits of high speed DSP TMS320C6455, (3) designed parallel processing platform based on TMS320C6455, and (4) implemented stable tracking and precise locating to extended targets in complex environments. The contents and findings of the research are summarized as follows:Firstly, the latest development and application of image processing techniques are analyzed and necessity of developing new multi-DSP parallel platform is pointed out.Secondly, the relative characteristics of various parallel platforms is researched, including parameters of some key components, such as TS101,TS201, TMS320C6455, FPGA (field programmable gate array) and other peripheral chips.Thirdly, new static inter-connected architecture is designed based on TMS320C6455 attached with high performance FPGA. The processors can be inter-connected directly through high speed busses. This platform can also be applied in other many signal processing fields.Fourthly, some experiments have been conducted under this platform to apply complex algorithms about particle filter, template related tracking, and surface fitting techniques in extended target stable tracking and precise locating. These experiments have validated the performance of the platform. Finally, the dissertation provided a summary of the above and presented the problems yet unresolved and the direction of further development.
