Phased array radar is more and more widely applied in modern society. Withthe rapid development of micro-electronic, information technology, theresearch of phased array radar is deeply focused on the fields off targetidentification, space detection, radar imaging and other advanced technology.The beam steering, as a fundamental component, is in face of higher technicalrequests: higher speed, less equipment, more modes, more densely integratedunit and etc. The traditional beam steering systems hardly satisfy the newrequirements.Based on the deeply analysis of principal of beam steering system, a newsolution adopting DSP (Digital Signal Processor) is presented. The choice ofprojects, the realization of hardware and software of all parts, thereliability, anti-interference performance, measurement of modules and otherfacts are systematically investigated. The high-speed operational capabilityand abundant hardware and software resource of DSP are adequately exploitedto design a beam steering module adopted with 2000 series: TMS320F206 whichsupplied by TI co. (Texas Instruments corporation). In the module, thehigh-speed, real-time operation capability of phase shifter is up to 32channels. Additionally, phase control and data loading and other criticalfunctions are obtained one by one. Adopting two communication modes,synchronous serial bus and asynchronous serial bus, the data exchange andmonitoring of module are implemented. Utilizing DSP assembly language, thecodes are modularized and structured. Meanwhile, the testing methods areexplored and implemented.
