Microwave phase shifter is a device which can change the phase ofelectromagnetic wave, it is the key component of phased-array antenna. The digitalorthogonal phase shifter this article designs is composed by a 3dB directional couplerand a PIN single pole double throws-witch, its main merit is that has wider bandwidth.This article first introduced the principles of several kinds of common phaseshifters' design in detail, and also introduced the related theory of the directionalcoupler and the PIN switch, then According to original theory, further proposed anew proposal to design another kind of digital orthogonal phase shifter, after madesimulation and optimization to the new design proposal in ADS and Ansoft HFSS,then determined design proposal according to the results of the simulation andoptimization, and processed the digital orthogonal phase shifter which designed,finally carried on the performance test to the digital orthogonal phase shifter whichprocessed, compared with the simulation performance its actual performance isbasically consistent. Error exists in certain test data compared with the simulationresult, but has been able to satisfy the application of engineering project.
