With the unceasing development of streaming media, more and more users watch multi-media video program on network. It is a general tendency for modern teaching to adopt multi-media teaching system in many universities. Campus network is a complex network environment, and how to ensure the transmission quality of video in multi-media teaching system is the key problem of the discussion in this dissertation.In recent years, adaptive streaming media technology is a focus point in streaming media technical research. Dynamic adjusting transmission speed of multi-media according to different network bandwidth and congestion condition makes different person who have different bandwidth condition receive different speed streaming media, and then reduces network jam and ensures steady and continuous streaming media transmission.This dissertation introduces the optimization process and the design for the multi-media teaching system of the Guiyang Medical University. The optimization process and the design adopt streaming media service offered by Helix DNA Server of the Real Works Company. The ASM (Adaptive Stream Management) technology of Helix DNA Server verifies the feasibility of adaptive streaming media technology at practical using. It introduces the basic concept of streaming media technology, crucial technology, file form and melting transport protocol. Study the related technology of Adaptive Streaming Media, which include Quality Adaptation, Congestion Control, Wrong Control and ASM technology etc. Major works in optimization process and the design of the multi-media teaching system has: updating the original Helix DNA Server, implementing ASM technology's effect in transmission of multi-media teaching video, re-code multi-media teaching video to suit need of Adaptive Streaming Media transmission. The problem of much more time in encoding and big volume of multi-media file caused by using various yard rate at the same time is reduced by canceling Two-pass Encoding and reducing complexity of video coding and quality of audio coding, Via designingand optimizing the portal site of the multi-media teaching system and meltingcarefully the subject classfication of resource, the system of multi-media teachingis easier to use. The function of user uploading multi-media resources has beenimplemented.
