Temperature measurement plays a significant role during high temperature manufacturing like metal stmelting and cathode manufacturing.It is dificult to conveniently measure the temperature in real time using existing high temperature measurement techniques because of the bad measurement condition in the high temperature circumstance.Recently, with the development of opto-electronic technology, digital image processing technology and the computer technology, for the unique advantages of the temperature measurement technology of using CCD image sensor base on the irradiance characteristic of the high temperature objects, it becomes a focus of research of high temperature measurement. In this paper, a CCD image processing system for temperature measurement is disigned using Nios II embeded softcore processor based on FPGA.CCD camera is used in the system as the sensor to take video images of the glowing object.The video images is then sent processed by Nios II processor on the FPGA and displayed on LCD.The temperature of the selected point is figured out and the number is displayed on LCD.In the paper,the development of temperature measurement based on CCD is first refered and the techniques of high temperature measurement are summarized.The formula of colorimetry temperature measurement is derivated from the eradiation temperature measurement principle.The paper then briefly analyses the development of the SOPC technology and its advantages.Nios II softcore processor is described in detail then,including the processor architecture,the Avalon bus and the NIos II peripherals etc.After the introduction of the development tools of Nios II and the structure of the temperaure measurement system,the hardware and software design of the system are detailedly described.For the hardware design,the CCD vedio decoder chip ADV7180 is introduced and also the circuit diagram and the PCB layout are given in this paper. The design of the user logic interface for image acquisition and the LCD module interface is described detailedly.For the software design, the flow chart of the program is given in the pepar and the program designs of the image acquisition and processing,the LCD display,the selection of temperature measurement point and the temperature calculation etc are refered.The result of the system hardware and software debugging is given at the end of the paper and also the lack and improvement of the design.At present, the temperature measurement systems base on CCD image are commenly implemented by computer and the image acquistion card, which are heavy and can't be moved conveniently.The system implemented by Nios II in this paper is different, which can act as a portable and mobile temperature measurement system base on images.For the configurability of the Nios II softcore,the upgrade of the system is also very convenient.
