Nowadays, communication technology develop rapidly, the scale of mobile communication technology expands continuously, the mobile phone performance improvement quickly, in these situation, the trend of mobile phone entertainment applications markets has been gradually clear. In a dazzling display of mobile applications, mobile games share the largest proportion. In recent years, the performance of networks and terminals of mobile technology has been improved dramatically, mobile games have grown far exceeded other mobile data services and it has become a thriving culture industry with huge potential. And the prevalence of mobile games makes mobile industry full of opportunities and it has become the major source of income of a value-added business of mobile operators, service providers (SP) and content providers (CP), that is to say, a real "gold mine".From a technical perspective, the game is different from other applications and mobile phone is different from other embedded development environment too, they have particularity respectively. Games are not only applications which are integrated with graphics, artificial intelligence, but also it asks for stringent performance of application environments. Generally, in the development of PC game, how to achieve good performance of graphics engines, how to simulate the artificial intelligence realistically and how to balance the functions and performance of games are very difficult issues. Mobile phone is equipped with limited operation performance, limited memory capacity, screen size. In such an environment, how to achieve good performance and adapt to a variety of performance parameters is also a challenge.Moreover, in the development process of mobile phone equipment, the same game can hardly operate in different mobile phone. This is mainly due to the lack of compatibility between the different brands and different types of mobile platforms. Even there is a great difference between the same brand models of mobile phones. How to port applications to such a large number of mobile platforms efficiently and effectively is the main problem of the development of games which we have to face. This paper summarized my experience of more than one year of porting and developing mobile games based on J2ME platform. The development of mobile games on J2ME platform has been described in details in this paper based on the author's first-hand experience of co-developing "Pearl Harbor" - a 2006 new game of a famous mobile game company. Especially, key issues encountered in the development including Graphic Engine,AI and massive Porting have been analyzed thoroughly, and specific solutions have been provided.
