With the continuous development of micro-electronics and unceasing improvement of FPGA(Field Programmable Gate Array) technology, SOPC(System On a Programmable Chip) technic has gradually become the new development direction of embedded system.After thoroughly collecting and investigating the latest literature in the field of SOPC, the thesis discusses and researches the method of hardware/software co-design based on SOPC to solve the limitation of the traditional embedded system development method. Then it selects the programmable system based on MicroBlaze soft processor core which is produced by Xilinx Company to research.According to the above researches, an SOPC system--Electrical Parameter Monitoring System which in the Xilinx's Spartan-3E FPGA is realized. In the implementation of this system, the method of hardware design and flow of software design are discussed. The structure and design process of SOPC are emphatically illuminated. The design method of peripheral IP core and applied software flow are explained. The method of both realization and validation of the system is analyzed. At the same time, the RTOS(Real Time Operation System) uC/OS-II is introduced. And the implementation of porting uC/OS-II to MicroBlaze is discussed. The method and flow of software design in RTOS are researched. In finally, this system meets the application requirement through hardware design and software program.Comparing to traditional embedded system, the SOPC of this thesis has greatly economized research time, decreased number of chip, and improved the reliability of the system. It is easy to realize, upgrade and transplant the system. The system has strong adaptability and good extensibility.
