Intelligent Robot Education will influence our society in the future. If the students in the schools now accept some intelligent robot education, they would adapt themselves to various technical innovations more easily and gain success in the future hi-tech information society. With the development of various robot games and competitions all over the world, Robots have been used in information technology courses for high school students. Thus developing a kind of robots for education and competition has great social and economic beneficials. This dissertation focuses on designing a kind of educational robots, which are composed of three parts, mechanical parts, hardware and software.Firstly, the dissertation reviews the research background and status quo on educational robots in domestic and overseas. The background and benefits of choosing the topic of the dissertation and the contents of the dissertation are introduced.Secondly, we analyze the advantages and disadvantages of some existing domestic and oversea educational robots. On the basis of the analysis, we develop a new educational robot platform. Open structure is applied for adapting to various application and purposes. Software have secondary programming ability: graph programming and C programming.Thirdly, this paper describes the hardware design of educational robot platform. The structure of the control system for educational robot platform is introduced. The functional modules are introduced in detail, including circuit graph, PCB, etc.Fourthly, this paper describes program design of educational robot platform particularly. The program design consists of six parts. Each part can achieve one robot function. Every program can be compiled, and then downloaded to MCU. Robots can run autonomously and move along some lines, move in maze and put out a fire in maze.Fifthly, PC software is described. PC software consists of control software and flow chart software. Control software is developed on Visual C++ platform in PC. Flow chart software has 3D effect. Users may see flow chart from various points and design functional modules' manner.Finally, conclusions are given with recommendation for future work.
