VPLS (Virtual Private LAN Service) to enable the site to users through WAN connected and the effect of links between different sites the same as links in a virtual local area network (LAN). The third layer of Virtual Private Network completed the connection of point-to-multipoint VPN by users study the private route information. However, it is too complex configurations and updates of private network route information to the smaller operators or larger VPN users. When PE equipments increased, Operators urgently need a good way to solve the point-to-multipoint VPN connectivity N (full mesh connection) square problems. VPLS emulate Lan-switch provides a second layer VPN service, and solve the N square problem by study MAC address when transmitting.This thesis mainly pays attention to solve two problems, one is the data forwarding of VPLS, another is the plan of solve the network congestion. In detail, the research including:1. VPLS technology research. According to the understanding of VPLS draft of Signaling control, I stated two VPLS signaling control Martini and Kompella. The Martini way which set up the virtual circle as important description. It offers a good way for the data forwarding research.2. VPLS data control layer research. After use Martini way establish a virtual circle, Data forwarding has become a key problem need to solve. Because VPLS was based on Ethernet, so it needs to divide into two cases: unicast and multicast. I give a detailed designation and data transfer procession to achieve it. By testing the program on the feasibility of a standard router. It proved that the designation of VPLS data forwarding procession meet the needs of this second layer VPN services.3. The load-sharing research of VPLS. Network Congestion is an inevitable problem of data forwarding. The plan that reduce the possible of network congestion is through load sharing network to solve the problem which the different assignment of network bandwidth .In detail, I use IGP routing protocol to change the route cost to get the equivalent cost routing link. Achieved by using a hash algorithm for the purpose of sharing IP streaming mode. Though the testing which proved the feasibility of this idea. In the actual network environments. The plan can achieve diversion effect, and decrease in the effective distribution of resources and balanced.
