Electronic mail is becoming one of the fastest and most economical ways ofcommunication available. At the same time, the growing problem of junk mail hasgenerated a need for e-mail filtering. Anti-spam measures, especially content filtering,have been hotspot attacting people all over the world.Bayes filtering has a dominant place in the area of spam filtering for its excellentcategorization, high precision. But in practical applications, the features of spam isvaried constantly, the traditional Bayes filtering can not adapt to this changes. SoBayes filtering must combine with a fitering measure which is good at dynamism andself-adaptability. And artificial immune system has become a new embranchment incomputering intelligence for its good self-learning, self-adaptability and robusticity.This paper analyzes basic principle of Bayes and artificial immune system, thendesigns a spam filtering algorithm based on Bayes and artificial immune system and aspare filtering system based on this algorithm.The contents of this paper are as following:(1) A summary about the spam filtering, including the definition, the harm, thecurrent situation and the future trend in home and overseas.(2) Basic principle of Bayes and artificial immune system has been analyzed.Basic Bayes formula and some Bayes classifier have been studied; metaphormechanisms and common immune algorithm of artificial immune system have alsobeen analyzed.(3) A hybrid spare filtering algorithm based on Bayes and artificial immunesystem has been proposed.(4) A spare filtering system based on this hybrid algorithm has been designed. Thissystem has been proved to be effective to filter spam in English and Chinese e-mailcorpus.
