With the development of CMOS Image Sensor (CIS) technology, CIS has been applied to the domain of space exploration such as cameras for remote sensing images, star trackers. The researches on commercial CIS could facilitate the R&D on the CIS imaging system, which will be of great benefit to designs on the relevant aerospace equipment. This thesis presents the history, features and the cardinal principles of CIS. The comparisons between CIS and CCD are also introduced. Some experimental systems are proposed, in which the image sensors are IBIS5-A-1300 manufactured by FillFactory Corp and MI1310SOC by Micron Corp, then the USB2.0 and LVDS are adopted as their different transmission approach. As of hardware design, some driver and control of shutter of the CMOS image snesor are realized on the FPGA via Verilog HDL, then four layers of PCB and the stable supply voltage outputted by Low Dropout regulators are applied, especially, the idea of miniaturization of modularization is introduced in the design of the LVDS transmission approach to make this system be characteristic of high integrated quality, reliability and flexibility. Experiments show that the system works stably and has low power dissipation. The images captured by this system have good effects. At last, the thesis indicates the deficiencies in the system and how to improve its performance. This system will be a useful reference for other similar systems in this domain.
