Uses And Gratifications

In the year 2002, Shanghai made its vision to be a"World City". Under this background, the thesis focuses on the present performance of English newspapers published in Shanghai by a sample survey targeting at foreigners in Shanghai. By studying the English newspapers, analyzing the results of the sample survey, and interviewing the editors, this thesis points out the weaknesses and the disadvantages of the present English newspapers. Finally, the thesis tries to explore the ways to improve the English newspapers by presenting some suggestions and solutions.
