Tcp Protocol Research And Improvements In Satellite Networking

At present, improving the performance of TCP on the satellite link is being researched as a key subject, it is of great importance for the future planning and implementation of satellite network to start the research on it in advance. This paper investigated into the specification of TCP carefully and analyzed the popular TCP's implementation, then figured out some problems of TCP's mechanism and implementation applied to satellite communication, moreover gave out the solutions to some critical problems. In the last section, three solutions were verified, the results indicated that these solutions improved the performance of TCP and increased the transmission rate of data.TCP is very complicated. In order to transfer data reliably and adapt to the transmission characteristics of the low levels which drastically vary, TCP adopts many mechanisms, some complex algorithm are involved in these schemes, they were deeply explicated in this paper.With the development of computer and communication technology, TCP turns to have no way to exert the full function of link and machine. The speciality of satellite link enables TCP not to be run as best as the ground link. This paper revealed the problems of TCP based on the above factors and had the exhaustive analysis of the reasons of the problems as well as their impacts on the transmission performance of TCP, it also put forward the proposal solutions to address these problems.Many simulation experiments were done to verify these improved mechanism's effects on the performance of TCP. In experiments, a simulation environment which set up a topology to simulate the satellite link were built and tracing and analysis of several simulation schemes were performed.
