The interface techniques used in the ink-jet printer can indirectly reflect the output rate of the ink-jet printer. USB, namely Universal Serial Bus, is a novel interface connecting computer and peripheral equipments and is a great innovation in the connecting techniques of the peripheral equipments of computers.That, using USB instead of traditional serial port and parallel port as the interface of digital ink-jet printer, can effectively maximize such virtues as flexibility, convenience, stable communication, and lower cost. The interface scheme adopted by the system is the MCU plus USB interface chip. The system substitutes traditional parallel port with USB 2.0. Through a thorough understanding of USB 2.0 protocol and the device hierarchy, this paper designs the hardware of the interface system and implements the software of it primarily using MCU and USB 2.0 chip. Then the corresponding principle diagram is given on the basis of the design above. The hardware mainly determines the interface circuit between the MCU, USB 2.0 chip and FIFO. The system software can be divided into three modules. The first is the device firmware program by Keil C. The second is USB device driving program by DDK XP under Window XP operating system. And the third is the application program by VC++ to test the device. The proposed system has good practical value and the application prospect.
