As we know, Phase Shifter is widely applied in the system of communication and Rader. Especially for the Phased-Array Rader, phase shifter is one of the key components. Comparing to the classic radar, the Phased-Array Rader has smaller volume, lighter weight, higher accuracy, quicker reaction, lower power wastage, broader coverage and other advantages. Every Phased-Array Rader needs thousands of Phase Shifters, which control the phase of radiator elements in the antenna aperture surface to scan beams fast. For the Phased-Array Rader, more bits the Phase Shifter has, the finer beams can be controlled. However, at the same time, it would be harder to design and the control circuits would become more complex. At present, designing and producing Phase Shifter with excellent performance absolutely has science and market value. Just for these reasons, there is special practical meaning with the research about this topic.At present, the two kinds of phase shifter using PIN and FET as switch clearly have practical value. Comparing to FET Phase Shifter, the PIN Phase Shifter has better performance in insertion loss and cost, so that the PIN Digital Phase Shifter is aboard applied in all kinds of Phased-Array Radar system. The project of this paper focuses on the S-band PIN controlling 5-bits Digital Phase Shifter.This paper deeply researches in basic theory of Digital Phase Shifter, reviews four different kinds of principles concerning Digital Phase Shifter circuit.Besides, in the paper the author has done some theoretical analysis and drawn design curves, trying to explain the circuit amended of the switch-line phase shifter. During this period, the software called Advanced Design System (2004A) is frequently used to simulate and optimize the circuit design of the 5-bits Digital Phase Shifter. AutoCAD2005 is utilized to make the blueprint of the Printed Circuit Board and the cavity. This paper also describes the test of the finished product.It is believed that all these foregoing works done in this paper will be helpful for people who research in Digital Phase Shifter.
