Design of a high output power, high combining efficiency power combiner at Ka-band based on a slotted-waveguide was presented in this thesis. Slotted-waveguide power divider, which achieves power-dividing and waveguide-microstrip transition at the same time takes the advantages of low profile, low cost and high combining efficiency.Firstly, the assembly technology at millimeter-wave band was introduced and a common rule of bondwire's influence to system performance was summarized through simulation method. As the performance of MMIC is sensitive to its channel temperature, the optimum thermal design for power combiner was presented. Then, a power-combiner has an output power over 1watt and a power-combining efficiency of 83% at 34.2-35.5GHz was realized. Small-signal gain and saturated output power were measured under both continuous wave and pulse wave. Furthermore, performance degradation due to device failures and the contribution of phase and amplitude uniformity to power-combining efficient were also simulated and measured. On the base of the researches above, a power combiner with an output power of 10watt, combining efficiency of 80% was finally designed and realized.
