Nowadays the rapid development of economy boosts the application of Geographical Information System(GIS). In the fields of city planning, transportation, environment protecting, agriculture and so on, GIS plays an important role and has gained many economic and social benefits. But the absence of large-scaled GIS platform for foundational purpose with right of knowledge, that could support the building of the national spatial foundational establishment, is still one unavoidable problem. To fill up the blank the spatial information handling group, Institute of Computing Technology, CAS take on the large-scaled GIS for network massive and spatial information, a major project of 863 Program, and develop the VegaGIS. With the improvement of network and the technique of distributed computing, there are several impact changes in the concepts of conventional GIS, the organization and management of special data, the model of application, and the development of application system. To provide mature, accurate, efficient Location Based Services for users, the functions of transaction processing and long-time transaction handling have become the requirements of modern GIS system. In this paper, according to the attributes of VegaGIS we expatiate the methods to improve the consistency, validity, stability of the VegaGIS special database on the foundation of analyzing the transaction processing technique and the model of Distributed Transaction Processing. This paper develops one method of the configurable transaction processing on analysis of the operations of VegaGIS special database. With the consideration of performance adjustment the method provide the GIS products the guarantee of reliability through the technique of process monitoring and load balance.
