Research And Implementation Of The Conformance Testing Of Real-time Corba Platform

CORBA(Common Object Request Broker Architecture) provides standard frame which is independent of programming language and network protocol for enterprises, it also simplifies the development of distributed systems. While CORBA is maturing and more and more CORBA implementations and CORBA-based products emerge, people are improving their request on the real-time quality of CORBA. OMG (Object Management Group) extended the standard CORBA and proposed real-time CORBA specification which was for the purpose of providing real-time development platform for the distributed systems.Because the sticking point of appraising a implementation of real-time CORBA platform is the conformance to the real-time CORBA specification, the Conformance testing is needed. Conformance testing methodology is the base of conformance testing, so the research on conformance test methodology for real-time CORBA is necessary.In terms of the software conformance testing methodology and the OSI conformance testing methodology, this paper presents a new approach to test a real-time CORBA implementation's conformance to real-time CORBA specifications both from a theoretical and practical view. This method includes conformance requirement, test reference model, test process, test contents, test strategies, test case and test suite. The emphasis of this paper is placed on test contents, test strategies, test case and test suite. According to the structure of real-time CORBA, the test contents are divided into seven parts, for example, the test of priority model, the test of priority dispatch, the test of thread pool and so on. The test suite comprises design of the test case and implementation of the test suite. A full C++ test suite is also introduced which have been applied to real-time CORBA implementation. Besides, some aspects that need further investigation are mentioned at the end.
