In recent years, because of the development of telecommunication technology, dreams of communicating at any where and any time come to true. Thus, people have great demand for high performance and big capacity telecommunication systems. According to this, the study on Radio Frequency (RF) and Communications Integrated Circuit (IC) becomes very popular. At the same time, under the drastic market competition, telecommunication system requires the RFIC with low cost, low power consuming and multi-function. The development of RFIC techniques will follow the same way as the digital IC does, and CMOS technology will be implemented for RFIC finally. Therefore, based on Si COMS technology, the study of RFIC circuits and design of GSM standards have significant meaning.First of all, because RF circuit has large numbers of passive devices, especially for integrated inductor in Si CMOS technology, not only take big area on CMOS chips, but also has notable parasitic effect, its quality factor is far lower than separated inductor, thus greatly impacts the performance of RF circuits. So that, high quality factor integration inductor becomes the difficulty of RFIC. In this paper, a novel expression is presented for substrate eddy current loss on Si-based monolithic spiral inductor, and the traditional model which has integrated inductor on RF CMOS chips had been simplified.The simulation shows that, under inductor self-resonant frequency (serf), substrate loss is mainly caused by eddy current loss. Relative error of substrate loss is less than 25%, quality factor (Q) relative error is lower than 27%. At the frequency with peak Q, relative error of Q is only 5.8%. From the results, we can know that, the key way to raise the inductor quality factor and self resonance frequency is to less substrate eddy current loss. The simple model can accurately equal to each parameter on integrated inductor.Secondly, mixer circuit, one of the key part of RF circuits, was optimized and designed.
