Along with the swift and violent development of APARnet and Internet, TCP/IP protocol has been widely prevalent and succeeded greatly in many application fields, such as electronic mail, information gain and reproduction, advertisement, amusement, E-journal, on-line education, on-line service, on-line client support and etc. However, owning to the technologies of hardware and software progress quickly, electronic government affair, electronic business affair, on-line phone, on-line game and on-line movie are booming in the world and producing more numerous high-speed real-time data continuously. Such data demands the network can provide more effective and more reliable transport service, which has flow control. The hierarchical architecture is inefficient, which is mainly due to the redundant function overlaping between neighbouring layers and complicated hierarchical processes existing in the conventional hierarchical network, and hard to meet QoS. To overcome such limitations, beside improving hardware speed, developing a novel network protocol, which can support more efficient and reliable transport service and provide service quality guarantee, has become necessary on computer network research.By analysing and classifying network services, combined with the extensive research in the area of high performance network architecture among the network community, a novel network architecture, named the Service Unit based Network Architecture (SUNA), were presented. Based on the TCP/IP, this thesis pays attention to SUNA and achieves useful results. This thesis is divided into six chapters. The first one is a general introduction about the research background, project significance, project source, project task, the auctorial work. The second one introduces the limitations of TCP/IP, and the basic conceptions and the pivotal theory in the SUNA and the MCES(Micro Communication Element System). The third one is about the research and design of the host system, which is based on the MCES. It is composed of the socket management module, the service unit management module, the QoS (Quality of Service)module, the NIC(Network Interface Cards)module and four class service units. All the modules, service units, the data...
