Parallel computer is an important area of the research of high-performance computer, and the efficient, rapid, large-capacity interconnection network is the base of large-scale parallel computer. Therefore, the design of high performance interconnection network is important to the improvement of high performance parallel computer. The "effect of the bottle-neck" of electronic interconnection network limits operation speed, clock skew and interconnection bandwidth constraints, which can not be dealed with through technology. Fiber optic communications offer a combination of high bandwith, low error probability, and gigabit transmission capacity. Therefore, optical interconnection network can not only overcome the above constraints in electronic network, but also avoid electromagnetic interference, and greatly increase the accuracy and stability operations. Therefore the study of optical interconnection network is of great practical significance.Firstly, the thesis analyses the relative research in the optical interconnection networks, and studies communication modes in the networks deeply. Secondly, it discusses how to avoid the crosstalk in optical switches and several algorithms are proposed. Thirdly, different distributed wavelength reservation protocols are discussed and compared. Some problems are presented and improvement schemes are provided. Finally, NS2 are discussed and simulation results show that the improvement schemes can reduce the blocking probability. The major research works and initiative points in this article are as follows:1. The thesis analyzes therelative research in the optical interconnection networks and studis communication modes in the networks deeply, such as unicast, multicast, broadcast , anycast and permutation routing.2. Presenting Banyan network's propert, conflict and the neccesary and sufficent condions of conflict. Then, three routing algorithms are presented on realizing permutation routing based on time domain approach under the constraint of avoiding crosstalk, and the complexity of the algotithms are analysed.3. Discussing how to realize permutation routing under the constraint of avoiding crosstalk in Butterfly network, and then, the results are extended to arbitrary communication mode.4. Different distributed wavelength reservation protocols are discussed and compared. Some problems are presented and improvement schemes are provided. Simulation results show that the improvement schemes can reduce the blocking...
