A 94GHz millimeter wave receiver is studied in detail in this dissertation which is used to measure characteristics of smog. The receiver works on double mode, active and passive, in different time. In active mode, it works as a narrow-band and high sensitive receiver that measures insertion loss and scattering characteristic. And in passive mode, it is a Dicke millimeter wave radiometer that measures radiation characteristic. The system principle and working method are discussed in detail.Firstly, the measuring principle of smog's characteristics is introduced. The influence is discussed in detail of receiver's gain fluctuation on measuring radiation characteristic and a radiometer is calibrated periodically to improve measure precision. The measure method of smog insertion loss and RCS are presented with the 94GHz millimeter wave receiver.Secondly, The circuits of the millimeter wave receiver are introduced. By ingenious design, three characteristics of smog can be measured with an same receiver. Thereby the system becomes multifunction and miniaturization. Finally, The principle of controlling software and the flow chart are introduced. This software is programmed in module and is designed with friendly operation bench interface, with C language.
